Riverdale Baptist School (RBS) was founded in 1971 as a ministry of Riverdale Baptist Church. As a Christian educational institution, it will, therefore, reflect the philosophy, values and believers’ lifestyle of Riverdale Baptist Church. The administration, faculty and staff are born-again, Bible-believing Christians and active church members. In its first year there was an enrollment of 188 students in kindergarten through the sixth grade. The school rapidly grew into its current enrollment of over 800 students in grades from kindergarten through grade 12 with a student faculty ratio of 12:1. The portion of faculty with advanced degrees is 30 percent. Riverdale Baptist School exists for the purpose of providing students with the opportunity to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and to receive a Christ-centered, biblically based education. “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6.
It is the school’s desire to have a balanced educational program where excellence will permeate the spiritual, academic, physical, and social aspects of the RBS learning atmosphere. The school’s stated objective is to develop within each student an understanding of how to think and how to apply him/herself, an effective attitude of self-discipline and responsibility, and the proper ideals, habits, knowledge, and skills which are necessary preparation for life. Never resting on its laurels, RBS has pushed to be a leader in academics, sports, and technology. As an early adopter of growing technology, RBS has an ActivBoard in each classroom along with elementary and high school computer labs. In 2014, RBS took a leap forward in technology and became an Apple school, offering iPads to each student in grades three through 12, as well as to all teaching staff.
